USD 244’s ACT scores increased from 2017 to 2018. Composite test scores incorporating all subject areas of English, Math, Reading, and Science show an increase from 21.6 in 2017 to 22.2 in 2018. This composite score is 0.6 higher than the state average at 21.6.
Also, each sub category is higher than the state average. English is 21.7 while the state average is 21.0. Math is 21.4 while the state average is 21.1. Reading is 22.8 while the state average is 22.3. Science is 22.3 while the state average is 21.5. These test scores included 56 of the 63 graduating seniors from the class of 2018 which is 89% of this graduating class.
Burlington High School also achieved an average graduation rate of 91.3% for the 2015-2018 school years. This rate is above the state average of 86.9%.
“These scores are a reflection of our BES, BMS, and BHS staff that help to build a successful educational foundation for our students. Our parents and community support our students with their academics and activities so they are well-rounded students ready for life as graduates of Burlington Public Schools. Our community has also supported the renovation of our facilities to bring them up to the high standards we expect of our students and staff.” said Craig Marshall, USD 244 Superintendent.
